Synopsis:

A modern day family goes on an unexpected trip to their homeland to meet an eccentric great grandfather they never knew. He leaves them with more than an inheritance.

They are given a legacy that must be passed on.

Recent widower, Michael Ming, is trying to adjust to single parenthood in today’s uncertain times. Fighting to stay afloat financially has adversely affected his two teenage age daughters and young son as in their eyes, they have lost both parents. Tragedy has turned the Ming’s from a loving family into a lost group of hurting souls just trying to survive.

Their daily struggle is interrupted by an urgent request to travel to China. There are still some last minute affairs regarding Michael’s late wife.

Reluctantly, Michael and the kids find themselves half way around the world for the first time, waiting to board a bullet train with a final destination somewhere in the beautiful Chinese countryside.

Great Grandfather is a frail but wise sage with a humorous caretaker that keeps him supplied with oxygen, medication and us with laughter.

He can tell that his new found family is, in all senses, lost and tells them a true story in hopes that they will find their way again.

Almost 100 years ago…

…a young boy was born into royalty and a young girl was born into poverty. Twenty years later, their paths cross with a confrontation that leaves him fighting to save his reputation and she ending up a slave in captivity
